Description: Blasto coral, when fully extended, can look like a dense mushroom colony, or even brain coral. However, they have what is called a phaceloid stony skeleton, with individual corallites extending out from the coral center. 

In the wild, they are typically found in deeper protected waters. So, they prefer low water flow with medium lighting. Bright lighting can prevent their polyps from fully expanding; exposing their stony base.

Their polyps extend mostly during the day as Zoozanthellae provide the majority of their food. Occasional feeding of smaller Plankton/Mysis/Brine Shrimp is recommended.

Approx. Size: Each polyp is roughly 1/2" in diameter, 1-3 Polyps per frag on a frag plug. NOTE: Picture of colony is not the frag for sale, its the parent colony the frags came from.

Care and Recommendations:  

• Lighting: Medium (100 PAR) recommended.
• Flow: Mild to Moderate Flow. High flow should be avoided.
• Care: Extremely Easy
• Feeding: Most food obtained via Zoozanthellae. However, they benefit from periodic feedings of smaller Plankton/Mysis/Brine Shrimp is recommended.
